Recurrent Miscarriage

Recurrent miscarriage is usually defined as two or more pregnancy losses. In many cases a contributing factor can be identified and managed. In others no single cause is found. A miscarriage does not mean a future pregnancy is unlikely.

Investigating recurrent misscariage

Investigations are tailored to your history, and commonly include:

  • Blood tests

  • Chromosome testing for both partners where indicated

  • Pelvic imaging to look for structural factors in the uterus

  • Genetic testing of embryos and sperm analysis, where that's appropriate

Once the results are available, Dr Epee will meet with you again to explain the recommended treatment plan in detail.

Who it can help

  • Anyone who has had two or more miscarriages

  • A pregnancy loss after 12 weeks

  • A known clotting or autoimmune condition

  • A family history of chromosomal conditions

  • Miscarriage with previous history of D&C and uterine surgery for fibroids/polyps
