Female and Male Infertility

For many couples in Australia, the journey to parenthood does not happen as quickly as expected. Infertility is generally defined as not conceiving after twelve months of trying, or six months if you are over 35. The cause can sit with either partner, with both, or remain unexplained, which is why Dr Epee assesses both partners from the outset.

Services

Investigating Infertility

The first step is a comprehensive conversation followed by a fertility assessment, which identifies any specific issues before a treatment plan is developed. Investigations are tailored to each individual or couple's circumstances, and commonly include:

  • A full medical history for both partners

  • Blood tests to assess ovulation, ovarian reserve and hormone levels

  • Pelvic ultrasound, and tubal assessment where indicated

  • Semen analysis

Once the results are available, Dr Epee will meet with you again to explain the recommended treatment plan in detail.

Who it's for:

  • Couples who have been trying to conceive for twelve months or more

  • Women over 35 who have been trying for six months

  • Anyone with irregular cycles, known endometriosis, PCOS, pain or previous pelvic surgery

  • Men with a history of testicular surgery, injury, infection or an abnormal semen analysis
